Professional Certificate in Practical Accounting
Program Objective
This program has been specially designed and developed to prepare school leavers for careers in the world of business and industry. The program aims to provide students with a solid foundation in book keeping and to give them the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare and maintain a full set of accounts. The program is broadly conceived. While theory is not ignored, the program is largely practical and industry-related in its approach.
Duration
The program can be completed in 3 months. Classes are held in Petaling Jaya.

- Introduction to Principles of Accounts and Journalization.
- Recording Business Transactions.
- Understanding Business Documents, Double Entries and the preparation of Trial Balance.
- Preparation of simple Statement of Profit and Loss and Statement of Financial Position.
- Depreciation, Calculations, and the preparation of related accounts including Disposals.
- Understanding Irrevocable Debts and year end Allowances.
- Adjustments for Prepayments and Accruals.
- Bank Reconciliation Statement and Petty Cash Book.
- Partnership Accounts.
- Limited Company Accounts and Statement of Changes in Equity.
- Understanding the different classes of Shares, Loan Notes, Bonds, Dividends, Interest, Share issue, Rights, Bonus etc.
- Accounting Ratios and Inventory Valuations.
Teaching Methodology
The program is taught by experienced lecturers who hold Master’s or Doctoral degrees, and taught through lectures, discussions, group presentations, exercises and case studies. All these methods are enhanced through the use of various teaching aids.
